In our last blog post, we spoke about the advantages of blinds over curtains. Here, we turn our attention to the different types of blinds available. As is often the case, it’s never as simple as just preferring one product to another; you have to also decide upon a style. Choosing blinds shouldn’t be difficult, and it won’t be if you consider the following points.
Establish the style of the room
In order to make the right choice when it comes to choosing blinds, you’re going to need to take into account the style of your home as well. It might be that your style varies in different rooms in the house, but the key is to ensure that your blinds fit in with the rest of the room. For example, venetian blinds are perfect for anyone who prefers a slightly more rustic style; if you prefer a modern look, then minimalist vertical or roller blinds are probably more suitable.
Consider the practicality
While it’s essential to consider aesthetics when choosing blinds, you also need to think about practicality. It’s no good going with a product that looks great, but simply doesn’t work. With that in mind, we’ve put together a short list of dos and don’ts when it comes to matching blinds with the right rooms:
- Do think about roller blinds in the bathroom. Their material makes them perfect for a room with so much moisture around.l
- Do consider the size of your room; it’s an important factor in the choosing process.
- Don’t ignore safety guidelines when it comes to blinds and children. Blinds with spring mechanisms and no chords are advised.
- Don’t ignore maintenance; blinds don’t completely take care of themselves!
Ask for advice!
Although we’ve attempted to put together a guide to choosing blinds here, it’s clear that the choice is a complicated one. If you’re not completely confident that you’ll get it right, or just want a second opinion, then blinds suppliers should be more than happy to offer some impartial advice.
